Background: Gabriel Gray was the son of watchmaker Martin and Virginia Grey…or at least that’s what Gabriel thought. His father walked out on him and his ‘mother’ when he was five leaving them on their own. Virginia was most likely mentally ill and was always pressuring young Gabriel, telling him that he could be anything he wanted…that he should be special. Over the years Gabriel started to feel like this wasn’t where he belonged like he wasn’t the son of a watchmaker but he still learned how to make and fix watches because he thought it would please his ‘father’. He became the sweater vest, bookworm, nobody who owned a watch shop. He was never happy with his life, he never felt like he belonged there. Sure he’d always been really, really good at fixing watches but it wasn’t his life. When an Indian doctor came to him telling him he was special Gabriel was delighted, he thought that maybe, just maybe he was really someone instead of no one. After weeks of testing Gabriel Dr. Suresh told him that he may have made a mistake, that Gabriel may not be special after all. This angered the watchmaker beyond words so he grabbed the folders on Suresh’s desk and yelled at him asking if he’d do the same to these people. Gabriel grabbed one sticky note off of a folder in his anger and felt. Brian Davis and his number were on the sticky note and Gabriel called him, asking him to come to his shop because he could ‘fix Brian’s problem.’ Brian’s problem was the ability of Telekinesis and when he went to the store Gabriel killed him and took his power because Brian didn’t want it and Gabriel thought that the man didn’t deserve such a gift. After his first kill Gabriel became depressed and tried to kill himself because he could feel the hunger for more. When he tried to kill himself Elle Bishop came into the store and stopped him (Gabriel would deny it to the day he died but he was in love with her). Then the story goes on with Elle and him becoming friends and then she betrayed him, Gabriel became angry and killer another person, Trevor and took that mans ability. The watchmaker took up the name Sylar, Gabriel Sylar because of the watch he had just fixed when Brian Davis came in. Sylar became a killer, he went from state to state looking for those who had abilities and when he found them he’d kill them and take them. He was gone for a long, long time before he came back to New York because the cops were hot on his trail and someone had an ability he wanted there. Sylar went to see his mother and to tell her he was special now but she became scare of him and attacked him. In the end his mother died and Sylar was left totally alone with his powers and no one to love him. He had fifteen abilities when he killed his mother and the stress of the lose by his hands made his hunger worsen so he went after a man named James Martian who was a shape shifter and took that from him. After this the death of his mother kicks in and Sylar panics and goes back to how he was before Elle Bishop saved him in the shop. He moved to the town of New Prague, Minnesota and started a watch shop and to make one last kill…Sylar.
